In February 1998, MedSynergies Surgical Division was referred to physicians at North Texas OB/GYN Associates of Dallas (OB/GYN Assoc.). Doreen Moser, D.O. and her partner had just finished a relationship with a Dallas hospital providing a revenue guarantee for the practice. However, both physicians were recruited by the hospital out of a staff model HMO facility, and were unfamiliar with the operations of a private practice in today's managed care environment. At the time MedSynergies Surgical Division was contacted, OB/GYN Assoc. was on the verge of bankruptcy. MedSynergies Surgical Division was retained to provide complete management oversight of the practice. This included re-engineering the clinical operations, billing and collections, financial management, coding training, information technology administration and strategic development. As a result of our efforts, collections increased approximately 50% for the practice.
As a request by the practice, MedSynergies Surgical Division established a new corporation for Doreen Moser, D.O. MedSynergies Surgical Division set up new managed care plans, bank accounts, information systems and, corporate documents for the new entity. In addition, MedSynergies Surgical Division structured a cost sharing arrangement with an additional physician to reduce the operation cost of the practice. Because of the results of MedSynergies Surgical Division's efforts, Doreen Moser, D.O.P.A., has one of the lowest overhead rates and one of the highest collection ratios in her specialty.
