MedSynergies Debuts Claims Intelligence System: Advanced Business Logic Software Identifies and Fixes Problems with Denied Claims
DALLAS – October 18, 2005 – MedSynergies, Inc., a leading provider of financial and technology services to hospitals and physician practices, today announced its Claims Intelligence System (CIS), an advanced billing rules-based engine that enables medical groups and hospitals to identify specific problems and trends in denied claims, and then automatically correct them.
The CIS manages claims that either failed to pass an up-front edit or that were denied payment by payers. The Claims Intelligence System is directly linked to MedSynergies' enterprise data warehouse, which contains claim information from 1,000 healthcare providers across the nation. The CIS uses advanced software to extract, transform and analyze the data.
According to John R. Thomas, MedSynergies' chief executive officer, "Our CIS is a major step forward because it identifies the issues that are causing denied claims and also provides the means to fix the problem. The business logic engine is uniquely powerful because it operates on top of our large data warehouse. We can match claim information with a variety of local, regional and national benchmarks to identify underpayments or inappropriate denials."
The CIS is now available to all MSI Optimal customers, the company's premium service level. In addition, the system use may be purchased by other customers on a project basis.
Thomas said a number of MedSynergies' customers have used the CIS to substantially reduce their Accounts Receivable (A/R). "The CIS can quickly sort through six months of outstanding claims and determine which ones can be fixed and resubmitted and which ones are uncollectible. It can improve cash collections, payment quality and personnel efficiency. Initial versions of the product enabled some customers to reduce their A/R by 50 percent," Thomas said.
