William L. Hutton, M.D.
Chairman of the Board
William Hutton, M.D., serves as chairman of the board and has been with MedSynergies, Inc. since it was founded in 1996. Previously, Dr. Hutton served as the company’s first CEO and founding medical partner. Prior to founding MedSynergies, Dr. Hutton was one of the founding members of Texas Retina Associates. He practiced with Texas Retina Associates from its start in 1973 until his retirement in 2000.
Dr. Hutton has lectured extensively nationally and internationally. He was presented the Senior Honor Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology for his service to that organization. He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed medical articles, authored one book, and has been named in “Best Doctors in America.” His research interests have centered on complicated retinal detachments and their treatment with silicone oil, treatment of complications of diabetic retinopathy and on certain aspects of surgery for macular holes.
Dr. Hutton has been an officer and on the board of several medical, charitable and business organizations. He is a past president of the Dallas Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, the Retina Society and the Association of Retina Specialists, to name a few.
Dr. Hutton received his doctor of medicine from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and his bachelor’s degree from Texas A&M University. He completed his internship at the University of Washington’s Harborview Hospital in Seattle, Wash. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School and his fellowship in vitreoretinal surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute at the University of Miami in Miami, Fla.
